Located about 10 minutes from downtown Fort Worth and near TCU in the award-winning school district, Burleson ISD which also provides a low-cost of living.
The role you’ll contribute:
Pathologist Assistant receives, examines and takes sections of all tissue specimens received in the pathology department and may also accession cases.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
·Properly identifies, processes, and prepares tissue specimens for gross examination
·Performs gross examinations and take sections for histology under the supervision of a pathologist
·Determines identity and suitability of specimens when received, according to procedure manual, as documented on requisition 100% of the time
·May assign received specimens on appropriate accession number and in a timely manner; prepare them according to the procedure manual, as observed by the pathologist
·Immediately prepares sections and may stain frozen section specimens according to stated procedure, as observed by the pathologist
·May assist pathologist with autopsy eviscerations and organ dissection
·Takes and identifies macro and microscopic photographs of specimens as directed by pathologist
·Assist other departments and physicians in determination of most appropriate specimen submission and fixation methods
·May prepare solutions and stains as specified in procedure manual, as evidenced by control slide results
·May prepare and package specimens, tissues, blocks and slides to be sent out in a timely manner as observed by the pathologist with no more than 4 variances per year
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
·Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field
·ASCP Specialist Certification in Pathologists' Assistant
Preferred qualifications:
·Master's degree in a relevant scientific field
·One year of experience required
·Two years Laboratory Support experience
