Maine Medical Partners Women’s Health is seeking an experienced full-time BC Gynecologic Oncologist to lead the Division of Gynecologic Oncology.
This well-respected 5 physician and 4 APP practice is the premiere Gynecologic Oncology practice in the state of Maine, and provides state of the art cancer care for gynecologic cancers including surgical care and chemotherapy services. Successful candidates will be expected to provide clinical services in gynecologic oncology, including minimally invasive surgery and chemotherapy, and have experience with clinical trials. The practice actively participates in NRG Oncology Group and industry sponsored trials.
Maine Medical Partners Obstetrics and Gynecology is a multi-specialty group of providers who offer sub-specialty health care services within the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is actively involved in research and education, as well as providing quality clinical care. In addition to Gynecologic Oncology, sub-specialties include Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, Pediatric Adolescent Gynecology, Complex Family Planning Services and Urogynecology. The Division of Gynecologic Oncology has a full working relationship with all cancer sub-specialties, including a robust weekly tumor board, pathology, radiation oncology and medical oncology.
Maine Medical Center has 700 licensed beds and is the state’s leading tertiary care hospital and Level I Trauma Center. MMC supports a full complement of residency and fellowships training programs as well as integration with Tufts University Medical School focused on undergraduate medical education. MMC serves as the flagship of MaineHealth’s integrated delivery system.
The MaineHealth Cancer Care Network (MHCCN) is a coordinated system of care in which 11 MaineHealth partner hospitals and organizations work together to deliver the highest quality cancer care to patients as close to home as possible. The network not only provides treatment, but also supports MaineHealth’s continuing efforts in cancer prevention and education. Within the MHCCN, the division of gynecologic oncology is supported by excellent support services providing comprehensive cancer care including nurse navigators, licensed clinical social workers and rehabilitation specialists. The division also uses state of the art e-health tools including e-PROS and serial HER based distress monitoring.
The Maine Health Institute of Research (MHIR) supports and encourages a broad spectrum of research at Maine Medical Center ranging from basic laboratory-based research through the translational research, which studies the direct application of new drugs, devices and treatment protocols to patients, to health services research which seeks to use research methods to help improve and evaluate health care delivery programs and new technologies.
The department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Maine Medical Center has 23 employed physicians and 4 non-employed independent medical groups totaling over 60 providers. The MMC obstetrics and gynecology residency program, founded in 1976, has a rich history of training the Obstetrics and Gynecology workforce of Maine and supports 16 post-graduate trainees. The candidate is expected to be board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and the subspecialty of Gynecologic Oncology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The clinical components of the position require extensive experience in full-scope management of gynecologic cancers. In addition to excellent clinical skills, the ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and demonstrated leadership and operational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment in a large, dynamic health system. Prior experience with clinical trials and outreach contracting are preferred. The ideal candidate would have a strong interest in teaching (UME/GME) and clinical research. The position involves an academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine.
