The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian is seeking a dynamic and visionary inaugural Vice Chair of Research for this rapidly growing department. The Vice Chair of Clinical Research will report directly to the Department Chair and will serve as a key member of the department’s leadership team. The individual will provide leadership and strategic oversight of the research mission for the Department, and its academic affiliates, including NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn Methodist Hospitals. The current research portfolio totals over 2 million dollars and is expected to grow significantly over the next few years. The Vice Chair must be highly motivated and entrepreneurial with demonstrated expertise in leading research initiatives. Diversity, inclusion, equity, and collaboration are fundamental principles of the Department and the Vice Chair of Research will help to promote these principles in this leadership role
He or she will collaborate with department leadership to drive, to support and to model a clinical research program that advances care for women and is inclusive of a variety of research techniques to mentor junior faculty to be productive investigators. The Vice Chair will also collaborate with other members of the clinical leadership team to ensure integration and strategic positioning of research programs to support the department’s overall, clinical, education and outreach missions. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and entrepreneurial leader who would like to have a broad national impact. The Vice Chair will have full support of departmental, hospital, and medical college leadership. Significant resources, including data and statistical and analytical support, will be allocated to expand and diversify the department’s research portfolio.
The Department has a highly dedicated faculty, comprising of 84 junior, mid-career, and senior members with a diverse mix of clinical, research and educational interests. The Department is nationally recognized and cares for over 40,000 women annually and delivers specialized services to women at all stages of life through five subspecialties. Weill Cornell Medicine is a world-class academic medical center, committed to excellence in patient care, research, education and community service. As part of one of the nation’s largest and most comprehensive hospital systems the Obstetrics and Gynecology sphere at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital performs over 14,500 deliveries, 5000 procedures, and over 3000 surgeries every year. Total annual visits across all campuses and affiliates are more than 200,000 using a common EMR and growing, presenting an ideal opportunity for research expansion and integration with innovative clinical efforts currently underway.
The Department’s current research portfolio is comprised of programs in COVID-19 Pandemic Research, Telemedicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases, Gynecologic Oncology, Genetics, Maternal Fetal Medicine, and Family Planning.

The Vice Chair will be an accomplished clinical researcher with an MD or PhD in Epidemiology, Healthcare Delivery Science and Innovation, Health Services Research or Population Health with a primary focus in women’s health. This individual will have a strong vision for growth and focus on high impact research. He or she will have an outstanding record of innovations, success in extramural funding and program development, and publishing research results in high impact journals. The incoming Vice Chair will have attained the academic rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor at his/her institution.
