Morristown Medical Center (MMC) is a 720-bed community teaching hospital, the flagship hospital of Atlantic Health System. MMC is a level 1 trauma center, a primary stroke center and one of the top cardiac hospitals on the east coast. MMC is also ranked as a high performing institution in gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics, nephrology, pulmonology and lung surgery as well as urology. Currently, it is the #1 hospital in the state of NJ. The MMC pharmacy department consists of approximately 170 employees, including pharmacists, technicians and clinical pharmacists. There are a total of 15 clinical pharmacists who specialize in a variety of specialties from emergency medicine to transitions of care.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Applicants must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and must have completed at least two years of residency training or equivalent experience. Applicants must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of New Jersey. Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BCPS), or other relevant board certification, is expected within two years of hire.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
This position is for a Clinical Assistant Professor with a specialty in Internal Medicine. The faculty member will collaborate with prescribers and other pharmacy specialists at MMC to resolve clinical challenges to deliver the highest-quality patient care. In addition to their didactic and experiential teaching responsibilities, the faculty member would be expected to deliver clinical pharmacy services to the MMC medical teaching teams, provide education/development to pharmacy staff, and serve as a preceptor and mentor within the pharmacy residency program. Other responsibilities would include precepting internal medicine residents on their core rotation, interdisciplinary committee participation, policy development, creation and implementation of pharmacy clinical initiatives, and service as a general drug information and clinical resource to the staff. Finally, The Gunner Esiason Adult Cystic Fibrosis & Lung Disease Program at Morristown sees over 90 patients with cystic fibrosis. The pharmacist would be responsible for assisting in managing these patients when admitted with a CF exacerbation as well as facilitating transitions of care to the outpatient setting.
