Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital (PPMH) provides a 12-month ASHP-accredited Postgraduate year one (PGY1)Pharmacy Residency in Southwest Georgia. PPMH is a 446 bed acute care community hospital in Southwest Georgia. PPMH offers a broad-based, in-depth experience designed to develop clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions and prepared for board certification and postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
Core and elective learning experiences provide opportunities for residents to train under excellent preceptors committed to their professional development. Practice experiences include:
Adult Medical, Surgical, and Cardiac Critical Care Units
Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Infectious Diseases/ Antimicrobial Stewardship
Anticoagulation dosing and monitoring
As part of residency training, residents participate in the University Of Georgia College Of Pharmacy Graduate Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy program. The UGA Graduate Certificate is a one year program which enhances residency program experiences to foster excellence in clinical training and scholarship. Successful completion of the program includes a Teaching Certificate.

The flagship hospital Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital is a community teaching hospital and a regional center for cancer treatment, cardiac medicine/surgery, gastrointestinal disease and neuro-science. The Phoebe Cancer Center is one of the busiest and most advanced in the Southeast. The Phoebe Heart and Vascular Center performs more open-heart and cardiac catheterization procedures than all other hospitals in the region combined. Phoebe is one of only six designated perinatal centers in the state of Georgia and is the region’s only provider of neonatal intensive care, cardiovascular surgery and radiation oncology services.
