PROGRAM OVERVIEW: Our program is designed to foster competency in the area of clinical psychiatric pharmacotherapy. Residents develop advanced clinical skills through direct patient care experiences. Graduates of our program have obtained employment as clinical pharmacy specialists in psychiatry across the country in VA, DOD, and County Mental Health as well as faculty positions in academia. UNIQUE FEATURES: Fully integrated mental health pharmacy services, including pharmacist-run medication management clinics for schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, geriatrics, military sexual trauma, and PTSD. Of note, our psychiatric pharmacists possess Scopes of Practice that allow them to practice independently as mid-level healthcare providers Opportunities in acute, ambulatory and specialty care including a multidisciplinary inpatient unit, a Substance Abuse Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program, a Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program, and a Mental Health Intensive Case Management Formal inter-professional training in psychosomatic medicine with required clinical experiences in Consult Liaison and Pain Management Extensive teaching opportunities including precepting students and residents in Psychiatry.
