Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH) is a tertiary care hospital in the Yale-New Haven Health System. YNHH centers of excellence include oncology, pediatrics, orthopedic, cardiology, and women's health. YNHH serves as the primary teaching site for Yale University Schools of Medicine and Nursing. New Haven is located on the shoreline of Connecticut (Long Island Sound), a two hour drive from New York City and Boston.
The purpose of the PGY1 Community Pharmacy Residency Program is to prepare pharmacists for patient care positions focused on specialty or ambulatory pharmacy practice or for PGY2 pharmacy residency training. The program consists of rotations in ambulatory oncology, primary care, infectious diseases clinic, inflammatory diseases clinic, transplant clinic, cystic fibrosis, specialty pharmacy leadership and community practice/MTM. Elective rotations include medication safety, finance, informatics, transitions of care, payer relations/contracting and more. The resident will gain teaching experience working with APPE pharmacy students. Residents are encouraged to participate in an optional teaching certificate program offered through the University of Connecticut.
