Position Summary
At Stony Brook Medicine, an Application Specialist - Clinical Information Systems is a valuable member of our team, who provides technical guidance and professional administrative support to program managers, department heads or administrative officers, faculty, support staff and to the University.
Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.
Duties of an Application Specialist - Clinical Information Systems may include the following but are not limited to:
* Keep management informed of project status.
* Participate in new projects when appropriate.
* Maintain stability and reliability of all systems.
* Adhere to coding guidelines and standards of Information Technology.
* Maintain timely and up-to-date project tracking and AHD.
* Adhere to customer service standards.
* Ensure the addition of new applications are technically sound.
* Reviews, analyzes and implements change/enhancement request to production applications.
* Investigates and helps resolve application problems.
* Assists in testing system functionality as well as validating application integrity.
* All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum three years' experience supporting and implementing applications in a client server environment.
- In lieu of Bachelor's degree, Associates degree with five years' experience as stated above.
- Proficient in MS Office products. Have knowledge in relational database. Have experience in reporting tools (such as Crystal) in relational database environment. Must be detail oriented. Have strong analytical and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to work independently and work well in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in hospital systems such as Cerner, Eclipsys, Siemens.
- Experience in health care IT environment.
- Experience in HL7 interface.
- Experience or knowledge in CPOE, EMR, or Clinical Documentation implementation.
- Degree in clinical discipline: RN, RT, Pharmacist, etc. and clinical experience in a complex health care environment.
