Department Description The Department of Pharmacy provides comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, controlled substances, IV admixtures, clinical services, investigational drug services, infusion pumps, teaching, purchasing and billing) throughout the Medical Center complex 24 hours per day as well as oversight of all pharmaceuticals throughout the Health System. In addition, UC Davis has many outpatient clinics to help patients manage their conditions outside of the hospital. THIS IS NOT AN H1- B OPPORTUNITY ResponsibilitiesThe purpose of this position is to assist the Department of Pharmacy, physicians, and nurses in improving the continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient. Pharmacy Technician III will work with pharmacies to assure coverage of high-risk medications, assist with medication reconciliation by gathering medication histories for patients, and assist the pharmacists with calls to the patient to ensure the proper usage of medications and education. Responsible for other duties related to the transition of care as assigned by the supervisor. Required Qualifications
California Pharmacy Technician License
Knowledge of department, and hospital P & P's and Patient Care Standards pertinent to pharmacy practice.
Knowledge of computer data base maintenance.
Problem-solving skills to independently recognize and define a problem; identify the resources available to help solve the problem; create and implement viable solutions; and follow through to ensure the problem is resolved to the satisfaction of all parties.
Familiarity with hospital layout, names and location of patient care areas.
