The Department of Pharmacy at Emory University Hospital Midtown is excited to now offer a PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) residency program, the first and only HSPAL program in Georgia! Emory University Hospital Midtown is a renowned 520+ bed acute patient care facility and treats 17,000 patients per year at the outpatient Winship Cancer Institute located in Atlanta, Georgia as part of Emory Healthcare. The residency program provides comprehensive practice management and leadership experiences with a diverse pharmacy leadership team with residency and practice experience from leading institutions. The program allows for tailored instruction for the individual resident based on interest(s), past experience, and future goals. The 12 month PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership residency program will develop pharmacy leaders with expert knowledge and skills necessary to assume clinical, operational, and leadership management positions within a health system pharmacy. Under the direction of Shailly Shah PharmD, MS, BCPS, Ryan Haumschild PharmD, MBA and the pharmacy leadership team at Emory University Hospital Midtown, the resident will:
• Develop practice management skills and refine leadership skills in the following core rotations: Inpatient Operations Finance, Supply Chain Sterile Compounding Operations Informatics Ambulatory Clinical Leadership Executive Leadership Inpatient Clinical Leadership System Leadership Medication Use and Safety Administration
• Gain human resource practice management experience with longitudinal intern manager responsibility
• Participate in monthly and longitudinal experiences in leadership development, research and quality improvement, code coverage and on call responsibilities.
• Provide patient care pharmacy services every third weekend
The applicant must possess a PharmD degree and be actively enrolled in a PGY1 or have completed a PGY1 program. Georgia Pharmacist licensure is required within 90 days of starting the program.
