Our PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency is a one-year postgraduate specialty training program that offers residents an immersive experience in all aspects related to ambulatory care pharmacy after they have completed a PGY1 residency.
The goals of the program are to help the resident specialize in patient care related to ambulatory patients, gaining experience in collaborative interdisciplinary ambulatory practice. Residents will be able to manage medication therapy for complex patients with multiple disease states. Additionally, residents will gain experience in ambulatory pharmacy leadership, including management and precepting activities.
As a pharmacy department that offers comprehensive health services for the community, our program offers PGY2 ambulatory care experiences in diverse settings. During the 12-month program, PGY2 ambulatory care pharmacy residents will complete training in pharmacy operations and rotate through learning experiences that see a variety of disease states. The resident will also complete a year-long residency project to be presented at Western States.
At the completion of the PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency, the resident will be fully prepared to serve as an ambulatory care pharmacist, with the potential to become a supervisor or manager.
