McLaren Oakland PGY-1 pharmacy residency program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy education and outcomes, contributing to the development of clinical pharmacists accountable for achieving optimal drug therapy as members of the health care team. Through our program, residents will exhibit commitment to the profession, exercise leadership through medication safety improvement, and become well rounded practitioners that will possess the knowledge and skills to promote the advancement of the practice of pharmacy.
McLaren Oakland provides a twelve month residency position for two residency candidates beginning in July.
The residency program is divided into eight, six week experiences, which includes the rotations devoted to pharmacy orientation and research projects. Each resident will have an individualized schedule and will work closely with their preceptors to maximize their experience. Feedback will be given at the midpoint and end of each rotation through verbal and written evaluations . Throughout the year residents will be assigned to staff for one day each week.
Each resident will complete a longitudinal research project and present their study results at the ASHP Midyear Conference or Great Lakes Pharmacy Residency Conference to strengthen comprehensive understanding of clinical pharmacy. Residents will also have the opportunity to participate in the following activities: journal club presentations, P&T drug monographs, medication use evaluations, newsletter articles, case presentations, and ACPE Continuing Education Seminars.
Residency candidates must be a graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited in the U.S. and must be eligible for licensure in the State of Michigan. Candidates must also register for the Matching Program and have a National Matching Services (NMS) applicant number.
