The Research Pharmacy is a division within the Clinical Trials Office (CTO). This position reports directly to the Research Pharmacy Director who oversees all operations of investigational drug services ("Research Pharmacy") at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC).
The CTO assists investigators and academic/research staff in developing clinical trials at P&S and provides administrative and clinical resources and infrastructure to build and sustain clinical trials research.
The successful candidate provides essential investigational drug services to Investigators and Research Personnel with responsibilities, critical and central to the conduct of the clinical investigation according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the applicable regulatory requirements. Additionally this position will have the primary responsibility of carrying out the transition to Electronic Health Records System, as it relates to the Research Pharmacy and Investigational Product management within the system.
This position will have duties and responsibilities that include but are not limited to the following:
Populate list of drugs from Research Pharmacy's electronic protocol management system for assigned protocols
Populate the Research Drug Collection Forms for those drugs
Interact with study team, investigators, coordinators, sponsors and study monitors to obtain drug related information as needed
Continuously communicate with staff pharmacists, study team and EPIC Willow team to update the data as needed
Validate all research drugs with EPIC Willow team, attending in person sessions and webinars
Update, manage and maintain Electronic Health Records System drug library
Train all new staff members on Electronic Health Records System utilization
Trouble shoot any issues with order sets in real time
Write and follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures
Develop study specific guidelines
Maintain practice in accordance with The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), FDA, GCP and other regulatory requirements
Maintain study specific files and ensure that all drugs for protocols approved by IRB, are built into Electronic Health Records System in a timely manner
Assist other staff pharmacists as deemed necessary by the Director of Research Pharmacy
Share on-call duties with other pharmacists
Current Pharmacist licensure from the New York State Board of Pharmacy or be eligible for licensure in the State of New York and 4 years of related experience.
Epic experience preferred.
Oncology Board Certification is a plus.
Minimum 1 year of hospital-based pharmacy experience or equivalent, such as pharmacy practice residency.
Medical Surveillance required, HIPAA training required
