The PGY2 in Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership is designed to prepare residents to secure a leadership role in health-system pharmacy. Longitudinal learning experiences in human resource management, pharmacy operations, clinical pharmacy operations, and leadership/compliance/regulatory/safety are offered to give the residents exposure to a wide array of health system pharmacy administration experiences across the continuum of care. The resident serves as a member of the hospital site pharmacy management team, as well as the health system pharmacy enterprise leadership team. Each resident staffs as a central pharmacist, which provides the opportunity to master practice skills and to increase confidence in accepting total responsibility for safe and effective pharmacy care. This is scheduled for every fourth weekend. Salaries are competitive and updated annually.

United Hospital is a nonprofit acute care regional medical center that is part of the Allina Health System. The medical staff provides comprehensive services including cardiology, neuroscience, psychiatry, oncology, and obstetrics. The pharmacy department emphasizes a decentralized approach to providing drug distribution and comprehensive clinical services. Clinical services include anticoagulation, antimicrobial stewardship, response to medical emergencies, TPN monitoring, drug information, and pharmacokinetic consultations. The residency program is affiliated with the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy.
