St. Catherine University invites applications for an Access and Success temporary Social Worker position, working 30 hours per week, October 2019 through March 2020. This position works closely with the Associate Director of Counseling and Student Development and the Program Coordinator to administer the Access and Success program. The primary focus of this position is working with Graduate and Adult Evening/Weekend/Online populations of student parents. The Social Worker will conduct assessments, interventions and case management with student parents as needed. This position will also provide one on one support, facilitate monthly lunches, offer outreach, and develop and implement programs as needed. The Social Worker will keep up to date records, keep accurate student parent data and work as an active member of the team. They will provide intensive case management for 5 young, at-risk student parents through the Keys to Degrees program.
Responsibilities also include: • Working with individual student parents to provide support, assessment, advocacy, resources, referral to resources, assist with problem solving. • Work with students requesting emergency grants. • Engage as needed with the University community to promote services. • Maintain programing, recordkeeping and data management. • Serve as an active member of the program team. • Keep up to date with community resources for referral and networking. • Provide case management for 3 at-risk student parents.

Requirements: • Must have a Bachelor’s degree with social work licensure in the state of Minnesota and two to three years experience working with low income populations • Master’s Degree in Social Work is preferred • Ability to respond respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures, in a manner that affirms the worth and preserves the dignity of individuals, families, and communities. • Time management and organizational skills needed to deal effectively with multiple competing tasks • Referral knowledge base, as well as good written and oral communication skills • Proficient computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
