At Prisma Health Richland Hospital, we have offered an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists-accredited residency program in pharmacy since 1972. As an institution, we were formally known as Palmetto Health Richland. Our name may have changed, but our dedication to providing residents a year committed to excellence in teaching, patient care, and research has not.
Our program is located at Prisma Health Richland, a 641-bed regional teaching hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, that treats patients from every county in the state. We currently offer two PGY1 pharmacy residencies and PGY2 pharmacy residencies that focus in cardiology, critical care, infectious diseases, internal medicine and pediatrics.
Prisma Health Richland is expanding residency training opportunities with the addition of our seventh program - PGY2 Internal Medicine Residency 37025. This program is designed to produce a well-rounded pharmacy practitioner who is equipped to meet the needs of patients with a variety of complex medical diseases. Graduates of this program will have gained experience in a variety of disease states with a strong focus on anticoagulation, diabetes and insulin management, antibiotic stewardship, respiratory diseases, and transitions of care. The residency has pre-accreditation status with ASHP and will be accepting its inaugural resident in July 2020.
