This program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available. Rotations are offered in adult and pediatric consult services, antimicrobial stewardship, infection control/microbiology, emergency medicine, immunocompromised populations, and management/leadership. Longitudinal experiences include: HIV/AIDSambulatory care clinic, research, and management/leadership. A teaching certificate is available and is required for program completion. Certificates of residency are awarded upon meeting the following requirements: achievement of at least 80% of required program goals during twelve months of active residency experience and 100% of critical education objectives; fulfillment of required research elements, including submission of formal residency project manuscript suitable for publication; and fulfillment of all rotation requirements, quarterly progress requirements, required drug information activities, and service commitments as defined by the residency program director, including staffing assignments and ability to function independently as a hospital pharmacist.
Interested candidates should submit a letter of intent, official college transcripts, curriculum vitae and three recommendations to PhORCAS via WebAdmit. All application materials should be submitted to the Residency Program Director (RPD) prior to the application deadline posted on PhORCAS/WebAdmit. Upon receipt of all application materials, all candidates are invited to participate in a telephone interview; additionally, some candidates may be invited for an on-site interview. Candidates must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy, must be participating in or have completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency program or one in the ASHP accreditation process, and must be eligible for licensure in Oklahoma.
