Humana’s program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) in partnership with the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP).
The PGY1 pharmacy residency program at Humana Pharmacy builds on your Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for the medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions. PGY1 pharmacy residents are those who are eligible for board certification and postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. A managed care pharmacy residency will provide systematic training of pharmacists to achieve professional competence in the delivery of quality care for populations of health.
Humana Pharmacy’s pharmacy residency program is a twelve month post-graduate training program consisting of core and longitudinal learning experiences supporting the clinical and professional growth of the resident. Working alongside pharmacists, the resident will participate in the best practices and application of managed care principals to improve population health within a Pharmacy Benefit Manger (PBM) and health plan practice environment.
The program prepares the resident to continue growth as a professional throughout their pharmacy practice. Upon graduation from the program, the resident qualifies to take the Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) board certification exam.
