PGY-2 Pharmacy Informatics Specialty Residency Program
The PGY-2 Pharmacy Informatics residency program at Broward Health is a 12-month program accredited by The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). This specialty residency is designed to marry the current clinical skills of the resident with new technological skills, so as to leverage clinical information systems for optimal patient care and outcomes.
The resident will actively participate in the evaluation and improvement of pharmacy workflow processes in the following domains: Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE), medication reconciliation, clinical decision support, barcoded medication administration, electronic formulary maintenance, and ambulatory systems, among others. The resident will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic intra-disciplinary team supporting 4 hospitals, 8 retail pharmacies and over 50 clinics. The resident will complete an individual research project, to be presented at the applicable Conference of his/her choice. The resident may also have the opportunity to develop precepting skills during the experience, depending on rotational schedules.
Upon completion of the PGY2-Pharmacy Informatics Residency Program, the resident will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to obtain an informatics pharmacist position in health care facilities and the automation industry.

Broward Health participates in the ASHP Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS™). Applications will only be accepted via PhORCAS™. Prospective residents must be registered in PhORCAS™ in order to submit all required application materials by January 10thof each year for consideration. An interview is required and will be scheduled during January/February.
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy, or equivalent experience.
Completion of a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency Program.
Licensed, or eligible for licensure, in the State of Florida.
A letter of intent that includes the candidate’s goals and objectives for completion of this PGY-2 program.

Three letters of recommendation, completed online, using the ASHP Standardized Reference Form available in PhORCAS. [Note: Both pages are required to be completed by reference writer (i.e., narrative comments are required)].
An official transcript from the College(s) of Pharmacy where the candidate graduated.
After receipt of all the required materials, selected applicants will be contacted for an on-site interview. During the interview the applicant is required to:
Deliver a 10minute Power Point presentation on a pharmacy-related topic of their choice (ideally, Informatics or Automation-related).
Participate in a panel-style interview.
