The Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency Program at Parkview Medical Center is an ASHP-accredited 12-month postgraduate program that builds on the Doctor of Pharmacy education and contributes to the development of clinical pharmacists that are prepared to care for patients with a wide range of conditions and are eligible for board certification and PGY2 pharmacy residency training.
Required Learning Experiences: Internal Medicine/Surgery, Cardiology, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Inpatient Anticoagulation, Outpatient Anticoagulation, Nutrition Support, Antimicrobial Stewardship I, and Pharmacy Administration.
Elective Learning Experiences: Pharmacy Informatics, Antimicrobial Stewardship II
In addition to the learning experiences, a resident will have the opportunity to:
Complete a major research project
Complete multiple smaller projects (MUE, drug class review, monograph, protocol development)
Develop and present journal clubs and case/topic presentations
Participate in health fairs and patient education classes
Participate in departmental and hospital committees and meetings
Participate in the resident candidate recruitment and selection process
Precept pharmacy students

Applicants must be graduates or candidates for graduation of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited degree program or one in the process of pursuing accreditation or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP). At a minimum, the program must be a five-year pharmacy degree program.
Applicants must be eligible for and obtain licensure in Colorado.
