At UnitedHealth Group, we're committed to helping people live healthier lives and to making the health system work better for everyone. The residency program is based at Avella Specialty Pharmacy, National Distribution Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The specialty pharmacy location offers a variety of patient care services to support chronic, complex specialty disease states such as Oncology, Infectious Disease (Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B and HIV), Autoimmune (Inflammation, Asthma, Multiple Sclerosis), Pain, and Fertility. About Avella Specialty Pharmacy
Avella is a national specialty pharmacy dedicated to empowering patients, providers and other organizations across the entire healthcare continuum. We are invested in improving the health—and the lives—of the people we serve. We accomplish this goal by acting as expert clinicians, passionate advocates, committed healthcare partners and strategic innovators.
Avella provides a level of service and support that is rarely seen today. Our patient satisfaction rate is more than just a metric—it is a reflection of our commitment to caring for patients on their terms. We consistently hear from patients that we are “remarkable” “extraordinary” and “make a difference” in their lives. We earn these accolades by striving to respect each individual’s time, address their concerns about treatment and support their emotional well-being.
Yet we also employ the leading technology of tomorrow to complement, and not replace, our high-touch approach.
This includes mobile apps, a provider portal and smart pill bottles designed to improve care and create a better patient and provider experience.
Our staff collaborate with providers, drug manufacturers and payers to guide patients through every... step of their treatment— from securing prior authorization to product fulfillment and mid-therapy support. Our pharmacists can work with providers at a peer-to-peer level thanks to their deep disease state knowledge in specialties like oncology, pain and addiction management, infectious diseases and many other complex, chronic conditions.
Avella is actively improving access to care through our powerful specialty medications, including 50-plus limited distribution drugs, as well as compounded therapies created in our state-of-the-art clean rooms.
