The Specialty Oncology Pharmacist Specialist position will be responsible for direct patient care with special emphasis in oncology, within the Department of Pharmacy. Primary duties will include Specialty Oncology Medication Therapy Management (MTM), procurement, prescribing, and dispensing of oncology and supportive medications. The specialist will serve as a liaison between the Specialty Oncology pharmacy and oncology teams by applying analytical skills to clinical and research information to support patient care.
Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm D) or equivalent training.
Post graduate year 1 [PGY1] in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent experience.
Post graduate year 2 [PGY2] in area of specialty practice or equivalent experience in specialty area.
Registered Pharmacist - issued by the state of California (RPH).
Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy and/or Board Certification in Specialty Practice.
Seven or more years of relevant experience.
Experience and proven expertise of pharmaceutical theory in a specialty theory.
Knowledge of developments in research and design in area of specialization including new or reformulated products being developed by medical and pharmaceutical researchers.
Board Certification in ambulatory care (BCACP) or oncology (BCOP).
Must have at least 3 years of outpatient/retail pharmacy and prior authorization expertise.
Prior experience with Specialty Pharmacy.
Demonstrated experience in the area of hematology/oncology pharmacy setting.
Strong presentation experience.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and counseling skills.
Demonstrated record of committee/team participation.
Experience working in a large, complex, healthcare provider organization.
Must be able to work various hours to include weekends, holidays, and overtime based on business needs.
Must be willing to rotate to all pharmacy areas/sites.
Hours are variable (8 to 10 hours shifts) including weekends and rotating holidays (up to every other), coverage for sick calls and vacation.
