Sumner Regional Medical Center’s Postgraduate Year One (PGY-1) Residency Program is a one year hospital-based program designed to prepare well trained clinical pharmacists for generalized clinical pharmacy practice. Each resident will be able to optimize the outcomes of our patients, support our health-system’s recruitment needs, and advance the profession of pharmacy.
We offer a community based environment that affords the opportunity for more personal learning experiences. Practice experiences include internal medicine, antimicrobial stewardship, critical care, emergency medicine, transitions of care, management, anticoagulation, preparation of a project and committee involvement. Our strong relationship with local colleges of Pharmacy provides ample opportunity for precepting and allows the resident to pursue a Teaching Certificate from Lipscomb University if interested. Upon completion of the program, residents are awarded a residency certificate. The PGY1 pharmacy residency program conducted by Sumner Regional Medical Center is accredited by ASHP.
