The PGY1 pharmacy residency program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. At Cape Fear Valley, the PGY1 program offers two tracks within the program, acute care and ambulatory care, with 4 and 2 positions offered respectively. Both tracks offer a wide variety of rotation experiences and both tracks collaborate with Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences for residents to obtain a teaching certificate.
