The PGY1/PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics Residency offers candidates a very unique experience through combining administrative, clinical and informatics pharmacy learning experiences over the course of 24 months. In this unique program, the resident will support existing pharmacy informatics services and dedicate time to informatics-related quality improvement projects and research with a focus on safety, efficiency, and state-of-the-art pharmacy-related technologies. The resident will spend significant time learning clinical decision support systems, medication life-cycle technologies from ordering to administration, pharmacy financial excellence and compliance through technologies, and data mining skills. The program includes core clinical and operational pharmacy rotations to ensure the necessary foundation to build upon for the informatics focus. Positions available: 1

Licensure and employment: Texas pharmacist licensure is required within 90 days of starting the program. Failure to do so will result in termination of employment.

- Participate in informatics on-call duties
- Work on assigned informatics projects
- Assist in supervising the student internship program
- Participate in both employee and resident recruitment and selection processes
- Lead the HMH pharmacy resident team in organizing Pharmacy Week activities
Staffing Experiences: - Operational staffing every 3rd weekend starting Aug 1 of year 1
- Clinical staffing every 3rd weekend starting May 1 of year 1
- One evening shift every two weeks averaged over a four week period starting in Year 2 of program
- Residents will work two holiday shifts per year
Research Experiences: - Each resident will plan, design and complete one major research project each year.
- Research results are presented at the Midwest Pharmacy Residents Conference, among other meetings.
- Residents will spearhead projects stemming from departmental initiatives.
Other Opportunities: - Optional Teaching Certificate Program through the University of Houston College of Pharmacy to promote scholarship in academia
- Attend monthly meetings with co-residents and program directors to discuss a variety of topics including patient cases, journal clubs, guidelines and leadership
- Present an ACPE-accredited continuing education activity
