The Pharmacist Specialist position is responsible for maintaining global consistency and compliance across the license sterile compounding exempt (LSE) locations. The specialist will be qualified and trained to be responsible for developing and implementing appropriate procedures, overseeing entity compliance with USP797, USP800, and other applicable laws, regulations, and standards, ensuring competency of personnel, and ensuring environmental control of the storage and compounding areas.
The specialist will have an in depth understanding of USP797 and USP800 and demonstrate core competencies. For both components, competencies include understanding requalification after failure, personal hygiene and garbing, facility design and environmental control, certification and recertification, quality assurance and quality control, handling and storage, and compounding. Duties will also include a staffing component.
Specific to USP800, the specialist must thoroughly understand the rationale for risk-prevention policies, risks to themselves and others, risks of noncompliance that may compromise safety, and the responsibility to report potentially hazardous situations to the management team. The specialist will also be responsible for the oversight of monitoring the facility, maintaining reports of testing/sampling performed in facilities, acting on the results, maintaining policies and procedures for both the entity and for the Department of Pharmacy and overseeing compliance with USP800.
The Specialist will also apply analytical skills to clinical and research information to support patient care and safety. The specialist will be expected to attend and present at regularly scheduled meetings to both internal and external audiences.
Registered Pharmacist - issued by the state of California (RPH).
Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy and/or Board Certification in Specialty Practice.
Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm D) or equivalent training.
Post graduate year 1 [PGY1] in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent experience.
Post graduate year 2 [PGY2] in area of specialty practice or equivalent experience in specialty area.
Seven or more years of relevant experience.
Experience and proven expertise of pharmaceutical theory in a specialty theory.
Knowledge of developments in research and design in area of specialization including new or reformulated products being developed by medical and pharmaceutical researchers.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
