Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW) is a 297-bed acute care pediatric teaching hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin is located on the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center Campus with Froedtert Hospital, the Blood Center of Wisconsin, Children’s Research Institute and is affiliated with the Medical College of Wisconsin and Medical College of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy. CHW is a tertiary care hospital with a Level 1 trauma center that receives over 10,000 trauma patients per year and is the largest Level 4 NICU in the state of Wisconsin. CHW has an internationally recognized bone marrow transplant program, is a center for heart, liver, and kidney transplantation, and is the only hospital in Wisconsin to be nationally accredited by the Pulmonary Hypertension Association as a Center of Comprehensive Care. The pharmacy department provides centralized distributive services 24 hours a day and has decentralized pharmacists in acute care units, intensive care units, and limited ambulatory clinics.
Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Pharmacy Department is seeking applicants for the PGY-2 pharmacy residency program. The PGY-2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency program at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin will hone pediatric pharmacist skills and develop competence in direct patient care, practice management, and leadership. Our program also provides the opportunity to sub-specialize in pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care, and oncology/bone marrow transplant. PGY-2 pharmacy residents will have the opportunity to participate in health care rounds in all acute care rotations as well as work with attending physicians, pediatric medical residents, PGY-1 pharmacy residents, pharmacy students from multiple schools of pharmacy, nurses, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. In addition, the resident will have the opportunity to develop clinical programs and provide a limited amount of decentralized pharmacy staffing to further educational opportunities. The resident will have 6 required rotations and up to 5 elective rotations depending on the length of elective experiences. The PGY-2 resident receives appointments to the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee, Medication Safety Committee and Pharmacy Clinical Practice Council. Required Rotations:

Staffing requirements The resident is required to staff every third weekend as well as approximately two weekdays per month (50-60 staffing days per year). Staffing locations will include central pharmacy, total parenteral nutrition service, and decentralized teams which will provide the resident with the opportunity to attend multidisciplinary rounds.

Upon submission of applications via PhORCAS, the CHW pharmacy residency council will review all application materials. Individual candidates will be selected for invitations to visit Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. The dates available for site visits will be Mondays and Fridays from 1/27/20 through 2/21/20.
