The LMC PGY1 pharmacy residency program is a year-long, post graduate training program focused on developing residents into competent and productive clinical pharmacists. The program offers a broad range of experiences in direct patient care, pharmacy operations, as well as leadership. The program is accredited by ASHP and follows their guidance and standards.
The Lovelace Medical Center (LMC) PGY1 pharmacy residency program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY-2) pharmacy residency training.

The Lovelace Medical Center PGY1 pharmacy residency program is a year-long, post graduate training program focused on developing residents into competent and productive clinical pharmacists. The program offers a wide variety of experiences in direct patient care, pharmacy operations, as well as leadership. The broad range of learning experiences allows residents to gain experiences in numerous settings, interacting with diverse patient populations, managing a variety of disease states, and gaining exposure to a range of patient problems. Our residents are mentored by highly trained and experienced pharmacists who are leaders in their fields. By the completion of the program, our residents will be well-rounded practitioners who are prepared to practice independently as clinical pharmacists, eligible for board certification, and capable of pursuing advanced training in PGY2 residencies or fellowships.
The residency program takes place in downtown Albuquerque on the Lovelace Health System campus which includes both Lovelace Medical Center and the Heart Hospital of New Mexico at Lovelace Medical Center which have a total of 318 licensed beds. Both centers are known for performing st...ate of the art procedures including New Mexico’s only Gamma Knife surgical center, New Mexico’s only hospital to place Left Ventricular Assist Devices, as well as being a comprehensive stroke center with the capability of performing thrombectomies. In addition, Lovelace Health System offers multiple specialties at multiple sites across the Albuquerque area.
