The CUWSOP PGY1 Progam Pharmacy Residency program offers two residency options both aimed at preparing pharmacists for generalist ambulatory practice in urban underserved areas and roles in teaching. Option 1 is a 24-month practice and academic leadership emphasis with time split equally in practice and on CUW’s campus. Year 1 in practice is at a local Federally Qualified Health Center where services have been established. Year 2 in practice is at an urban underserved practice site. Time on campus is split between teaching roles and academic development including coursework that results in a Master’s in Education. Option 2 is a 12-month urban underserved emphasis at the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin Medical Clinic and Pharmacy in Milwaukee, WI. The majority of time will be spent in direct patient care in the medical clinic and pharmacy with time once weekly at CUWSOP in teaching and learning activities that will foster academic development. A full day each week will be allocated for administrative projects in the pharmacy and medical clinic. Graduates of our program, regardless of option, will be prepared for success in a variety of ambulatory care practice positions as well as pharmacy practice faculty positions.
The resident receives health insurance, travel stipend, paid holidays, and 20 vacation days/Holidays/Year
Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy, eligible for WI licensure. Application materials include a CUW application form, cover letter, CV, School of Pharmacy Transcript, and three reference letters.
About Concordia University School of Pharmacy
Our Pharmacy Residency program (PGY1) differs from most other ambulatory care-focused residency programs – we focus on preparing academic ambulatory care pharmacists, practice in urban underserved areas, and experiences in both teaching and learning. We’ve partnered with Milwaukee Health Services, Inc. (MHSI) and AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin (ARCW) to offer two PGY1 residency emphasis options: a 24-Month Practice and Academic Leadership Emphasis, and a 12-Month Urban Underserved Emphasis.
We have also partnered with Evergreen Specialty Pharmacy, Hayat Pharmacy, and altScripts Specialty Pharmacy on 12 month PGY1 community-based pharmacy residency program options.
