Description The Pharmacy Department provides comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, pharmacy technology, and teaching) throughout the Health System 24 hours per day. The Department is comprised of three inpatient, six outpatient pharmacies, a sterile production lab, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores and distribution.

Qualifications REQUIRED -Current California Pharmacist License. -Clinical pharmacy training or experience. -Thorough understanding and competency with aseptic technique and safe handling of hazardous meds. -Understanding of scientific method and clinical investigational techniques. -ACLS or PALS skills.
PREFFERED -Pharmacy practice residency or equivalent experience in similar hospital setting preferred. -Drug distribution skills and techniques or ability to learn efficiently. -Ability to supervise technicians and establish priorities of work flow in satellite. -Communication skills that reflect the ability to make decisions and to deal with all clients and co-workers. -Ability to work with, direct and evaluate pharmacy residents and students. -Computer skills that facilitate medication order entry and other basic clinical software programs. -Ability to work compatibly with colleagues to reach consensus and to achieve Department goals.

Responsibilities The Staff Pharmacist works in satellite and central area pharmacies to facilitate drug distribution and provide drug therapy across the continuum of care. They provide quality and cost effective pharmaceutical care to patients, employees and medical staff of UCDMC. A Staff Pharmacist is an integral member of the health care team, responsible for drug therapy monitoring at the point of order review, drug distribution, drug information, precepting pharmacy students and residents in the area of pharmacy distribution, conducting clinical research, participating in Department and Hospital Committees, task forces and work groups and fostering excellent interdepartmental relationships.
