Research Associate in Ob/Gyn, Gynecologic Oncology

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of long noncoding RNA research, proficiency in studying the function of long noncoding RNA as well as possess a cancer, especially ovarian and breast cancer biology background. Responsibilities may include collaborating with post-doctoral and clinical fellows for basic and translational research projects; teaching MD and PhD studies in the laboratory for research technologies such as cell culture, molecular biological methods and preclinical animal studies; interacting with other laboratories for collaborative research projects; planning, organizing and executing research projects related to the main scope and focus of the Penn Ovarian Cancer Center; organizing different resources to be utilized in the course of study; getting approval from different regulatory authorities such as IACUC and IRB protocols; writing and disseminating research results by preparing manuscripts and presenting the research findings at scientific conferences. Interactions with post-doctoral fellows and MD/PhD students in the research laboratory. Candidate must have an additional five-years of postdoctoral research training background. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree. The successful applicant will have an opportunity to conduct research in cancer genomics with a focus on long coding RNA (lncRNA) functions in women's cancer (ovarian and breast cancers).
