As a member of this team, you will play a vital role in the Social Work Ambulatory Care Department at Domino’s Farms Allergy Clinic, providing direct patient care and care coordination for pediatric and adult patients. This position is funded by a gift donation. The hope is that the job will become a permanent position, but it’s not guaranteed.
The target population is the adult and pediatric Allergy Clinic and their families who have anxiety or adjustment disorders that interfere with their medical treatment and quality of life. There will be a special focus on working with patients with food allergies.

You will be responsible for:
Provision of psychosocial assessments for pediatric and adult patients, crisis intervention, brief evidence-based mental health interventions with individuals and families Participating in weekly psychiatric case consultation. This will require preparation, accurate and up-to-date patient registry and records maintenance, and the ability to make case presentations accurately and concisely.
Facilitation of pediatric and adult groups
Referrals to community resources and some provision of tangibles
Additional day-to-day activities may include performing co-visits with clinic providers, completing risk assessments and safety planning, addressing a variety of adjustment issues, and engaging with patients in the office and by phone.
A Master's degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council of Social Work Education.
A current license to practice social work in the State of Michigan. (LMSW only – LLMSW’s will not be considered)
Experience working with pediatric patients, their families, and with adults
Experience delivering cognitive behavioral therapy and exposure therapy
Significant experience with diagnosing and treating anxiety and other mood disorders
Medical and mental health social work experience and experience or interest in learning about the impact of allergies in the lives of patients and families.
Interest in research and/or publishing academic work is desirable.
Skilled in developing rapport and effectively communicating with a diverse patient population.
Efficient, accurate assessment of patient needs and effective case dispositions.
Effective organizational skills, flexibility, self-motivation, the ability to effectively prioritize multiple competing tasks in a dynamic medical clinic.
Independent, sound decision-making is necessary for success in this position.
Effective collaboration with a large multi-disciplinary team.
Proficiency in keeping accurate and timely clinical records by computer.
This is full time, 40 hour/week position. The typical schedule is Monday-Friday with start and end times 8:00-4:30 or 8:30-5:00.
This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Advancement through the career ladder at the Expert or Clinical Scholar Level is required for placement in the MSW Senior Classification
