Description The Pharmacy Department provides comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, pharmacy technology, and teaching) throughout the Health System 24 hours per day. The Department is comprised of three inpatient, six outpatient pharmacies, a sterile production lab, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores and distribution.

Qualifications REQUIRED -California Registered Pharmacy Technician -Retail Pharmacy experience -Retail third party billing experience -Prior Auth/Patient Assistance Program experience -Hospital outpatient Pharmacy Technician experience -Customer service experience
PREFERRED -Specialty Pharmacy or PBM Pharmacy Technician experience

Responsibilities The Pharmacy Technician Specialist is responsible for gathering information from medical records and other sources as required to process non-urgent refill requests. Makes analysis of what further information needs to be collected to complete patient history. Makes recommendations to pharmacist for refill authorization based on protocols and data gathered. Communicates authorization requests to requesting parties. Assists with processing of prior authorization requests. Maintains database of activities to document workload and impact on patient outcomes.
