Responsibilities Responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, maintenance, inventory adjustments, training and troubleshooting of the Pyxis medication distribution system and related automation in support of the functions of the pharmacy department. Serves as lead technician for implementation of new pharmacy automation projects
Functions as pharmacy automation technician for pharmacy automation or computer system inputs, outputs, data analysis and controlled substance surveillance.
Serves as a staff educator regarding automation system functions, optimization, bugs, enhancements, problem-solving, etc. Works with management to collect data and establish policies, procedures, standards, and objectives for automated systems and processes with a goal of increasing employee efficiency and effectiveness.
The technician staff are responsible for drug storage, preparation and distribution of medications throughout UCDMC under the supervision of a pharmacist, and perform maintenance and inventory functions.
