Description The Pharmacy Department provides comprehensive pharmaceutical services (unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical services, infusion pumps, pharmacy technology, and teaching) throughout the Health System 24 hours per day. The Department is comprised of three inpatient, six outpatient pharmacies, a sterile production lab, and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores and distribution.

Responsibilities The UC Davis Health Investigational Drugs Service Pharmacy provides oversight for distribution of investigational drugs throughout the UC Davis Health system. The UC Davis Health Investigational Drugs Service (IDS) manages investigational drugs for more than 250 clinical trials. The IDS pharmacist plays a pivotal role in working with investigators and sponsors to implement and manage clinical trials with investigational agents, providing comprehensive administrative, distributive and clinical support including: protocol development and review; maintaining industry standards for investigational product procurement, storage, handling, preparation and distribution; developing processes for ordering and prescribing investigational agents; providing education and support to medical, nursing and pharmacy personnel regarding investigational products and protocols; working research staff to facilitate regulatory and sponsor-required quality assurance reviews.
