Applies basic knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology and processing techniques; Applies basic knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs and formulas; Fills medication orders according to established procedures, Identifies processing problems; Prepares pharmaceutical products; Enters basic data in data management system; Maintains accurate patient database; Maintains appropriate inventory of non-controlled medication; Provides basic patient instruction on how to take and store medications; Refers patient to pharmacist for technical or detailed information; Provides effective customer service by listening to patient and understanding and responding to identified needs; Follows medication orders and written instructions; Labels and prepares written information following procedures.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Completion of a nine-month Pharmacy Technician program or graduation from high school and one year of pharmacy-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Certified Pharmacy Technician as licensed by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP).
Certified by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
Five years’ experience as a retail pharmacist technician.
