The Administrative Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for the effective delivery of direct patient care services in community-based initiatives within the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy. The pharmacist establishes a 20-hour work week of direct care including the provisions of medication therapy management, point of care testing, and immunization delivery. The pharmacist will also aid in the education of pharmacy residents rotating through PGY1 community practice sites and student pharmacists on introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences. The pharmacist will provide care under the standards and protocols through collaborative practice agreements, operational structure including quality, productivity, and outcomes consistent with the School's vision, mission, and strategic plan while meeting all state and federal regulatory agencies' requirements. This position is part-time with evening and weekend hours and will report to the Director of the Center for Pharmacy Care of the School of Pharmacy.
ILLUSTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS OF WORK:
Performs daily academic and MTM service activities associated with community-based, outreach initiatives.
Develops and maintains MTM services in accordance with state and federal regulations, accepted standards, professional practices and University and School policies.
Develops and implements research programs to evaluate MTM and practice-based outcomes.
Serves as a preceptor and residency program director (RPD) for one of the Duquesne Pharmacy School of Pharmacy Residency training programs.
Conducts and publishes research pertaining to the teaching and practice of community practice services, including the evaluation of health outcomes, quality of life, and cost-effectiveness of programs.
Collaborates with appropriate University departments and external stakeholders regarding the provision of community practice services.
Responsible for ensuring that proper policies and procedures are in place to maintain effective community practice programs.
Coordinates details of contract screenings (billing, staffing, reimbursement) with key individuals.
Trains new employees, including residents, students, and support staff in conjunction with the Laboratory Director at the Center for Pharmacy Care.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must be currently licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy to practice pharmacy and be licensed to administer injectables in the State of Pennsylvania.
A minimum of five years-experience or completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 residency program.
Demonstrated teaching and research skills, clinical ambulatory care service skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent clinical pharmacy skills and critical thinking skills.
