The Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE), fixed-term position at the Clinical Instructor level for the role of a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) for the UNC Schizophrenia Evaluation and Treatment (STEP) Clinic in Raleigh, NC. The STEP Clinic provides comprehensive psychiatric and recovery services to approximately 500 individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, especially psychotic disorders. The QMHP is responsible for an assigned group of clients for the assessment, planning, and coordination of evidence based treatment, recovery, and support services provided by this position and other members of the STEP Clinic. This position is also responsible for directly providing and assisting in the provision of treatment, recovery and support services (individual and group), as well as for systematic monitoring of service delivery and timely adjustment of the treatment plan to meet changing client needs. This position will be expected to travel to one of Wake STEP's regional centers once a week.
Education and Experience:
LCSW full licensure is required. At least two years of direct work experience with person with severe and persistent mental illness is required. Must have a strong commitment to the right and ability of each person with a severe and persistent mental illness to live in normal community residences; work in market jobs; and have access to helpful, adequate, competent, and continuous support services. Skills and competence to establish supportive trusting relationships with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses and respect for client rights and personal preferences in treatment are essential. Must have a valid NC driver's license.
