Under general supervision of the Program Director, the incumbent will be responsible for providing all aspects of specialized clinical care for the eating disorders Medical Behavioral Unit at Rady Children's Hospital San Diego in the Department of Psychiatry. Incumbent will provide individual, group and family therapy for individuals with eating disorders, formulate treatment plans; conduct thorough and complex eating disorder assessments; administer and interpret psychological tests; prepare clinical reports; engage difficult patients in treatment. Maintain day-to-day operations including responsibility on some supervising, leading higher-level process groups, and providing therapy to challenging eating disorder patients. Incumbent is responsible for the soundness and validity of recommendations and services, but is expected to seek advice from supervisor or senior specialists on unusual or complex cases. Keep supervisor informed of the status and progress of individual cases. Lastly, assisting the program director as needed.
CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER 2: Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and possession of the requirements necessary for application for licensure as a clinical social worker as determined by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position OR CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER 3: Master's degree from an accredited school of social work, possession of a clinical social worker license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners, and three years of post-master's experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
Demonstrated extensive experience in treatment of eating disorders.
In-depth knowledge and demonstrated skill in provision of individual, group, and family psychotherapy.
Demonstrated experience in providing therapy to individuals with eating disorders at several levels of care, including residential/inpatient, day treatment, outpatient, and IOP.
Demonstrated experience in providing clinical supervision to mental health trainees. Proven ability to mentor and develop leadership skills in others.
Strong written and oral skills. Good organizational skills. Capacity to develop and implement specialized programs. Ability to direct and supervise others as well as function as an effective team member.
Knowledge and skill in problem-focused psychotherapeutic interventions and a thorough working knowledge of DSM-IV categories and differential diagnosis.
In depth knowledge and skill in evaluation of DSM-5 psychiatric disorders.
Knowledge and skill in research design and methodology.
Excellent knowledge of mental disorders, psychiatric treatment services, and admission process.
Excellent skill demonstrated in performing needs assessments.
Knowledge of health industry reimbursement activity, industry trends, Medicare and provider services.
At least 10 years of direct experience with eating disorder population.
Extensive knowledge and skill in assessment methodology for eating disorders.
