This is a 10-week pharmacy summer internship position, 70% medication dispensing (sterile/non-sterile operations), 30% clinical activities (shadowing, journal club, project). Must provide letter of intent and Curriculum Vitae. Currently completing 1st or 2nd year in Doctor of Pharmacy ACPE accredited college or seeking accreditation. Must be eligible for Virginia licensure as a pharmacy intern. Must display self-motivation and good communication skills.

· Must be enrolled in an ACPE-accredited college, or a college seeking accreditation.
· Must be eligible for Virginia licensure as a pharmacy intern.
As a part of the healthcare team, the Pharmacy Intern provides pharmaceutical care to patients of all ages under the direction of a licensed Pharmacist. The Intern will assist with projects as assigned.
The Pharmacy Intern consistently delivers the best in customer service and patient care. Must be available for 10 consecutive weeks beginning in late May and ending in early August, working at a full-time status. Interns may be required to work two to three weekends as well as day and evening shifts.
Must be able to work under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist and routinely interact with members of the hospital staff, patients, visitors, and vendors.
May be required to work with potentially harmful biological, chemical, and/or cytotoxic substances.
Currently enrolled in an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy or college of pharmacy in candidate status for ACPE accreditation.
Currently completing the first or second year of a Doctor of Pharmacy program.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration:
Virginia Pharmacy Intern License required by first day of employment.
Other Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to be familiar with a large number of medications, including common strengths, dosage forms, and uses. Attention to detail and accuracy. Proficient computer and keyboard skills. Must be able to solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment. Must be able to work efficiently, manage time wisely, and follow policy and procedures with minimal supervision. Must have good interpersonal, communication, and listening skills.
