TheClinical Psychiatric Pharmacy Specialist will work under Department of Pharmacy Services with the providers and patients of St. Alban's inpatient and outpatient units. Medication reconciliation and optimization for both psychiatric and medical needs, and will work with patients in the Office-Based Opioid Treatment (OBOT) center at Carilion Clinic.
The Clinical Psychiatric Pharmacy Specialist supports Carilion’s hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities and supports the vision of the Department of Pharmacy to promote optimal patient outcomes through integrated delivery of quality pharmaceutical care.
Collaborates with Pharmacy staff, Medical staff, Nursing staff, and other CNRV departments to determine appropriate alternative medication selections and/or drug shortage processes for drug shortages impacting CNRV. Works with Pharmacy and other Health Care Providers to maintain safe and effective patient care during drug shortages.
Maintains and oversees Experiential Pharmacy Practice Rotations and Pharmacy Shadowing/Observation activities at CNRV. Provides support to Pharmacists involved in Preceptor activities to provide quality education of pharmacy students in coordination with schools of pharmacy

Must be a graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)
ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency. Specialized residency training in respective patient care area is preferred.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration:
License to practice Pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia required within 90 days of hire. During the first 90 days of employment and the licensure application process, pharmacists without a valid license to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia may not perform duties restricted to a licensed pharmacist until the license is obtained.
Other Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess good leadership, communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Must be able to effectively budget time, work efficiently and accurately, and follow procedures with minimum supervision.
Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
Work requires knowledge of general office equipment and procedures including computer and keyboarding skills.
All pharmacists must complete an Orientation Competency.
