Maintains open, regular communication with program physicians. Serve as Cancer Center liaison to the Health System Radiation Safety Officer. Responsible for departmental radiation safety compliance with the pertinent government and accreditation regulations (TJC, NRC and State of Michigan).

Oversee and actively participate in the daily treatment planning, dosimetry, quality assurance and other related radiation physics functions. Provide administrative oversight to medical physicists and medical dosimetrists.
Direct all radiation safety aspects and protocols within the radiation oncology and medical physics departments as a liaison to the health system Radiation Safety Officer.
Ensure departmental compliance with the pertinent government and accreditation agencies regulations related to radiation physics and safety.
Oversee Quality Management Program for radiation oncology and medical physics departments.
Provide administration with recommendations, cost-benefit analysis regarding acquisition of new equipment in Medical Physics and Radiation Oncology.
Participate in radiation physics and safety instruction, training and in-services to radiology residents, student technologists and hospital associates.
Maintain professional competency by attending scientific meetings, professional seminars and advance training courses. To be approved in advance.
Oversee performance of department's shielding calculations and machine commissioning activities
Coordinate in-service education for Radiation Oncology associates for required CME.
Works in conjunction with the Cancer Center Medical and Administrative Director to actively support the Compliance Plan. Duties may include auditing and monitoring, assisting in the establishment of standards and procedures, conducting associate training and education, reporting and/or responding to detected offenses, development and implementation of corrective action plans, maintaining open communication and enforcing disciplinary standards.

Maintains and protects patients' rights under the HIPPA Privacy Standards.
*National Board Certification in Medical Physics with special competence in radiation oncology physics.
*Five to Seven years of clinical medical physics experience *Experience in directing and devolving the medical physics requirements in a health care system. *Continuing education through courses, attendance of symposiums, workshops, and professional society meetings and in-services.
*MS degree in Physics/ Medical Physics *PhD in Physics/Medical Physics preferred *Authorized Medical Physicist through the U.S.NRC preferred

*Management skills sufficient to administer the day-to-day operation of the department and staff in a quality, cost-effective manner. Includes communication, budgetary and program planning. *Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients serviced in his/her assigned service area as related to the principle duties and responsibilities of the position. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training or experience.
