We offer one PGY-2 Residency in Geriatrics. As a resident at the James J. Peters Department of Veterans Affairs, you will receive a generous stipend and be eligible for health and life insurance benefits. A public transportation stipend is available for those who qualify and parking privileges may be available for those who drive to the hospital.
Throughout your residency you will participate in Community Living Center Interdisciplinary Team Meetings, Geriatric Clinic, Home-Based Primary Care, a Palliative Care rotation, and Wound Care Rounds. You will also round with the medical team, evaluate patients, and have a significant impact on pharmacotherapy. We are a teaching hospital and provide opportunities to precept pharmacy students on rotation and PGY-1 pharmacy residents. Required experiences include the CLC, geriatrics clinic, home-based primary care, choice of an acute rotation, PACT, and palliative care. Electives are arranged with the RPD.
Our excellent board-certified team of clinical pharmacy specialists have prescribing authority and are directly involved in patient care. Inpatient clinical pharmacists practice in Critical Care, Acute Care, and Geriatrics. Outpatient clinical specialists are based in the PACT (Patient-Aligned Care Team), Anticoagulation, Diabetes and Endocrine, Renal, Geriatrics, Heart Failure, and Hepatitis C/HIV clinics.

JJP is located in the Bronx, NY and offers acute care, ambulatory care, and long term care services. Our inpatient areas include critical care, post surgical, telemetry, medical/surgical, psychiatric and spinal cord injury services. We are the regional VA center for bariatric and renal transplant surgeries. Ambulatory clinics include primary care and specialty services: cardiology, psychiatry, nephrology, geriatrics, infectious disease, pulmonary, gastroenterology, orthopedics, neurology, anticoagulation, and pain management. Our pharmacists practice in ambulatory clinics with full prescribing authority.
