The purpose of the BMH-NM Pharmacy Residency Program is to develop a clinical pharmacist with the skills and abilities necessary to excel at institutional or ambulatory care practice sites, as a PGY-2 resident, and in academia.
About the Residency Program
BMH-NM offers a PGY-1 pharmacy residency program that is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. The program was started in order to offer a setting in North Mississippi where residents can participate in acute and ambulatory patient care and also in academia at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy.
Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi (BMH-NM) is a 217-bed community hospital located in Oxford, MS. BMH-NM is part of a 22-facility health system based in Memphis, Tennessee. BMH-NM has more than 90 medical and surgical specialists representing more than 30 specialty areas such as cardiology, radiation oncology and neurosurgery.
BMH-NM moved to a brand new, state-of-the-art facility on November 26, 2017. The pharmacy footprint increased by over 35%! BMH-NM features the latest in technology, including an electronic medical record with a bedside barcode application and computerized physician order entry via EPIC. BMH-NM is a Bariatric Center of Excellence, and also owns a Cancer Center that is accredited by the American College of Surgeon’s Commission on Cancer and a finalist for the Outstanding Achievement Award. The BMH-NM facility is a leader in its system with regards to Core Measures, quality initiatives, patient safety culture, and employee satisfaction.
Pharmacy Services at BMH-NM
BMH-NM Pharmacy services are patient-centered and focused on the continuum of care. BMH-NM pharmacy supports the Practice Advancement Initiative, and our practice model continues to evolve. Practice model goals include a decentralized, clinical specialist/generalist model with pharmacists in direct, patient-care roles. Clinical pharmacy services currently include nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, renal dosing, anticoagulation, medication histories, ambulatory and critical care. Transitions of care services continue to evolve and currently patients with COPD and AMI.
About the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy
BMH-NM is well-positioned for its affiliation with the University of Mississippi School Of Pharmacy and is located less than two miles from the campus. The UM-SOP was founded in 1908 and continues to be recognized for achievements in research, teaching and service. UM-SOP has more than 180 faculty members, and pass rates on the NAPLEX for PharmD graduates are among the top 5 programs nationally.
Residents work closely with the UM-SOP faculty to develop teaching portfolios and complete a teaching certificate. Residents focus on the principles of teaching and learning and are provided with practice experience in didactic and problem based learning settings.

Official transcript from ACPE-accredited institution
Three recommendations submitted using the PhoRCAS standard reference template
The information above will be used to rank candidates for on-site interviews to occur following the application deadline.
