Indian River Medical Center is located on the east coast of Florida in Vero Beach. IRMC is a 332-bed community hospital that is excited to offer two positions for a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program. In accordance with ASHP Residency Standards, the residency will focus on the development of clinical skills, leadership, communication, teaching and various professional attributes. The resident will complete the necessary rotational and longitudinal experiences tailored to the individual resident over a course of 12 months.
It is IRMC’s goal that upon completion of the PGY-1 Residency, the Resident will be able to
Apply and integrate pharmaceutical care principles for the care of patients
Be responsible and accountable for pursuing optimal medication therapy
Effectively demonstrate pharmacy leadership and commitment to the profession
Candidate will have graduated from an ACPE-Accredited College or School of Pharmacy prior to the program start date
Must be eligible to take the Florida Board of Pharmacy Licensure Exam or currently a Licensed Florida Pharmacist
Must obtain Florida license within 90 days of start date
IRMC requires screening for drugs and tobacco and a background check for all new employees. Failure of any screening process or in obtaining a Florida Pharmacist license will result in dismissal from the program.
About PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Indian River Medical Center
IRMC PGY1 Residency will offer residents core learning experiences in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Critical Care, Ambulatory Care, Infectious Disease, and Emergency Medicine. Elective opportunities for residents include will areas such as Nutrition Support, Oncology, Administration, and Drug Information. The residency program will be tailored to meet the needs of the resident and to comply with ASHP Residency Standards. Activities for the resident include P&T Meetings, staff presentations, MUEs, student preceptorship, and others.
