Providence Tarzana Medical Center PGY1 Acute Care Pharmacy Residency Program is committed to providing an environment with advanced education and training experiences. The residency program is designed to develop practitioner excellence in the provision of patient-centered, evidence-based care.
The pharmacy department offers 24-hour services and we are currently looking to expand the clinical pharmacy services. Some of the clinical services provided by the pharmacy department include Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) consult, Pharmacokinetic consult, Antimicrobial Stewardship, Renal Dose Adjustment, IV to PO conversion and Anticoagulation.
Residency Special Features: The purpose of the residency program is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy education and develop clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. Some of unique features of our program include clinical, administrative, operational and leadership roles. The resident will have various learning experience including TPN consults, Antimicrobial Stewardship program, and Emergency medicine; participate in multidisciplinary committee including P&T committee; conduct pharmacy practice research; educate nursing; and precept pharmacy school students.
Site Special Features: Providence Tarzana Medical Center is a non-profit, acute care community hospital with 250 licensed beds located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley. The hospital offers medical services to include: 24-hour Emergency Department, Oncology, women’s services, NICU, PICU, Cardiology, and Diabetes Care Center. The institution is home of the San Fernando Valley Heart Institute and is one of Los Angeles’ STEMI centers. The institution is a teaching affiliate of USC School of Pharmacy and Western University of health Sciences College of Pharmacy. The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission.
