The PGY1/PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration/MHA/Fellowship residency program will combine the current PGY1 residency at Providence Portland Medical Center with a second year experience with a robust Regional Pharmacy Leadership Team within a large integrated health-system. Additionally, the resident will complete an MBA degree through Oregon State University.
The PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency program has been accredited by ASHP since 1994, offering residents the opportunity to participate in collaborative, integrated care in health system pharmacy practice. Residents apply advanced practice-based skills, expand leadership skills, participate in professional organizations, and participate in innovative approaches to delivery of care.
The PGY2 component of the residency will offer a resident a unique experience to be intimately involved on the Regional Pharmacy Leadership Team. The resident will be exposed to pharmacy leaders in all levels of health-system pharmacy administration. Being the only HSPA resident will allow flexibility based on each resident’s career interest.
Providence Portland Medical Center has implemented pharmacy student/resident/attending pharmacist teams on each of the core clinical services lines, modeled after the medical education model. The teams work collaboratively with health care practitioners to provide patient care and improve medication management across transitions in care. The PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency program provides broad experience and confidence in practice-based skills across diverse practice settings while offering the opportunity to obtain focused experience in areas of interest.
