The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is recruiting for a Social Work Practitioner. The major purpose of this position is the coordination and delivery of social work services to patients and their families as well as extended care givers. The overseeing and coordination of these services includes but is not limited to:
Independently providing in-depth assessments of families' dynamics and needs & detailed treatment intervention.
Conduct individual, group, and grief counseling to populations with chronic, emotional and/or psychosocial complications as well as family dysfunctions.
Advocate for rights and services, referrals and follow-up in sensitive and/or traumatic situations.
Provides consultation on psychosocial issues
Provides supervision and training to undergraduate and graduate students
Establish and maintain contact with agencies and monitors services for quality
Available to serve as expert witness in court hearings involving child support issues, custodial care involving neglect and abuse and physical care.
Acts as a consultant to other peer associates and to the community at large, providing educational and technical guidance.

Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services discipline with coursework related to the area of assignment. Some positions may require certification to practice as a certified or licensed Clinical Social Worker as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification Board. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

The Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest clinical departments within the East Carolina University School of Medicine.
