KDHCD is an ASHP-accredited PGY1 program for two residents. The pharmacy practice residency is a 12-month postgraduate currirculum that offers training opportunities in a variety of acute care and practice leadership settings. Each month the resident will rotate thru a variety of patient care settings where they will have the opportunity to enhance their ability to provide safe and effective pharamaceutical care while being mentored by a clinical pharmacist in that area.
The Inpatient Pharmacy Department provides service to three campuses of KDHCD. The Department has a staff of 100+ with over 55 clinical pharmacists and operates 24/7 inpatient pharmacy services. A full array of technology is available to assist with distribution of medications to our patients. This includes automated inventory management, automated dispensing cabinets, bar code technology, automated TPN compounder and workflow management systems.
Pharmacy services utilize an integrated decentralized staffing model. Pharmacist practice on nursing units participating in order verification, provision of drug information and clinical pharmacy services. Clinical services include pharmacokinetics, anticoagulation management, and automatic therapeutic interchanges. Specialty pharmacy services include Infectious Disease, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Oncology, Pediatrics, Anemia Management, Pain Management and Anticoagulation.

Kaweah Delta Healthcare District is a 581 bed not-for-profit community based teaching facility anchored by its 448 Bed Level III Trauma Center. A rural health clinic system that includes 5 outpatient clinics gives patients in rural areas better access to health care in Tulare County. Additionally, a Chronic Disease Management Center rounds out the outpatient services focusing on improvement of outpatient self-care for patients with chronic illnesses at risk for readmission to the hospital.
