The purpose of PGY2 Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Residency at City of Hope is to develop competent pharmacy practitioners who are qualified to provide specialized pharmaceutical care to patients with solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, or patients undergoing stem cell transplantation.
The City of Hope PGY1 pharmacy residency program builds on Pharm.D. education and outcomes to contribute to the development of a clinical pharmacist responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
Upon completion of the City of Hope Pharmacy Residency Program, PGY1 graduates will be prepared for direct patient care positions, adjunct faculty positions, or to enter PGY2 training in an area of choice.
Residents will grow the skills and knowledge necessary to achieve excellence in any pharmacy environment by developing core competencies to:
Care for patients in different clinical settings
Educate medical, pharmacy, nursing, and allied-health personnel
Function as a member of a health-care team
Foster a commitment to professionalism
Manage their own practice
Exercise leadership in improving safety of the medication-use system
